The center has 10 NCI Specialized Programs of Research Ellence (SPORE) funding: lung cancer, bladder cancer, prostate cancer, ovarian cancer, head and neck cancer, pancreatic cancer, endometrial cancer, leukemia, breast cancer and melanoma. In 2005 the center began to create a "Reid and Chale. Research on early detection and treatment of cancer by Mike Combs" (Red and CharlineMcCombs Institute for the Early Detection and Treatment of Cancer), science, proteomics, screening, diagnosis and drug development and other related research devoted to the cancer genome.

In addition to basic research, education is also one of the main tasks of the M.D. Anderson cancer center. M.D. Anderson cancer center has 7 bachelor degree authorized disciplines, and more than 4300 students attend M.D. M.D. cancer education training program every year, including doctors, scientists, nurses and health care professionals. More than 1000 clinical inpatients receive special training for cancer research and treatment each year; more than 500 graduate students study at the biomedical graduate school. More than 1300 researchers were working at the lab at the M.D. Anderson cancer center.

3 cancer landing program editor

MD Anderson cancer center has launched an ambitious comprehensive action plan, called the lunar landing plan, which will rapidly and significantly reduce mortality and alleviate the pain of several common cancer patients, and achieve a great leap in technology. Through the large team composed of researchers and clinicians focusing on specific cancer, the goal of the "moon landing" program is to significantly increase the survival rate of patients in the next 10 years. These cancers including hyperplasia of bone marrow in acute myeloid leukemia, myelodysplastic syndrome, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, melanoma, lung cancer, prostate cancer, three negative breast cancer and ovarian cancer.

4 features and advantage editors

1. Anderson's team of doctors has a world-class academic leader in the various cancer fields. Anderson not only attracts cancer patients all over the world, but also attracts professional doctors from various countries to learn from Anderson. Almost all of the famous hospitals in China have doctors at the Anderson cancer center.

2. Anderson advocates individualized treatment. Anderson believes that each patient's condition is different and that a unique and best treatment plan is made for each patient. So, compared to other hospitals, Anderson's doctor spends more time on each patient, more options for treatment. For example, because of the number of treatments, this requires more accurate diagnosis. Anderson's pathology department has as many as 88 doctors (without technicians), several times as many as ordinary cancer hospitals.

3. Anderson is the world's largest clinical trial base for cancer drugs. Most of the tumor drugs are from Anderson's clinical trials. Only patients at the Anderson cancer center will have the opportunity to use the world's most advanced cancer drugs at the clinical trial stage. So the patient is able to use the latest tumor drugs in a few years before the rest of the world.

4. the first choice for overseas medical treatment. Many patients come to the MD Anderson cancer center outside the United States every year. The hospital is aware of difficulties when they come to cancer treatment. The multilingual staff at the international center is committed to meet the special needs of patients, including travel arrangements, language assistance and other aspects. The MD Anderson cancer center has set up a special medical examination for the international medical and Health Service Center for the benefit of cancer patients in China.

Department of neurosurgery:

The MD Anderson cancer center has provided Department of Neurosurgery diagnosis and treatment services in 1951. In 1979, the Department of neurosurgery was set up in the head and neck surgery. In 1990, MD Anderson cancer center was formally established independent Department of Neurosurgery, MD Anderson cancer center has a well-equipped Department of Neurosurgery surgery, in addition to the electrophysiological surgical microscope, stereotactic surgery, and frameless stereo navigation equipment and, in July 2006 the introduction of intraoperative magnetic resonance unit (BrainSuite), the resection of the tumor to the greatest extent. To provide a strong guarantee to maximize protection of patient safety and nerve function. Department of Neurosurgery, a total of 10 neurosurgeons, including functional areas of each one has his good points, glioma, meningioma, pituitary tumor, tumor, metastasis, tumor of the spinal cord and peripheral nerve tumor, cancer pain, all patients, 2003 operation capacity of 1303 units, 194 cases of patients with radiotherapy. In all department of neurosurgery operations, neuronavigation assisted surgery accounts for about 1/3, which is 318.

In clinical research, clinical research division subordinate (Section of Clinical Research), by the full-time staff responsible for the clinical trial protocol, collection and statistical analysis of the clinical and imaging data of patients, save the information of more than 7200 of all clinical department of neurosurgery patients and imaging, provides a powerful guarantee for clinical trials and academic writing the high quality. In addition to clinical work, a large number of clinical and basic scientific studies have been carried out in the Department of neurosurgery. The Department of neurosurgery has an independent laboratory under the brain tumor center experimental department, and the clinicians and basic researchers are widely involved. From 1993 to 2003, the Department of Neurosurgery published 52 papers every year and participated in writing monograph chapters, and from 1994 to 2003, 9 million 100 thousand yuan was awarded. Medical education is also one of the key points in the Department of neurosurgery. There are 3 resident doctors rotating in the Department of Neurosurgery every year. In addition, since 1993, 2 to 4 physicians have performed specialized exercises in neurosurgery department in Department of Neurosurgery, and in 2005, 25 specialist physicians have been trained, most of which (60%) are in the major medical schools in the United States.

Neuroononic oncology:

The MD Anderson cancer center NeuroOncology department was founded in the 80s last century. It aims to find effective new solutions for the treatment of brain tumors through clinical and basic research. The neurooniology department is composed of neurologist specialist, neurologist, neuropsychologist and basic researcher. Neurooncology specialist is responsible for formulating chemotherapy for patients with neuro tumor and exploring new treatments through clinical research. Neurologist deals with neurological disorders in patients with cancer in the hospital and the neurological complications caused by cancer or treatment. Neuropsychiatrists deal with cognitive abnormalities associated with cancer, and psychotherapy for patients with needed cancer and their families. Basic researchers are focused on the exploration of the molecular biological mechanisms of the occurrence and development of neural tumors, as well as preclinical studies on new drugs and treatments. There are specialized training programs in the NeuroOncology department, and 3 to 4 doctors are recruited every year for specialist training. After the period of 2 to 3 years of training, the trainee doctors have the ability to deal with neurotumor patients independently and to engage in clinical research. In the history of neurooncology in the past 30 years, many doctors and scholars have great influence in the field of neuro tumor.

Neurotumor pathology department and neurotumor radiotherapy group

The classification of nerve tumor is complex and the histopathology is varied. Rapid and accurate pathological diagnosis is the basis of correct diagnosis and rational treatment of nerve tumor. The neurology department of Anderson cancer center has more than 1200 cases of brain tumor in our hospital and outside hospital. It has rich experience in clinical practice. On the basis of research, science have neuropathy tissue microarray core laboratory with neural tumor tissue bank own nearly 15 years, not only provide frozen tumor tissues for the scientific research of the hospital, but also to the American National Cancer Institute (National Cancer, Institute, NCI) by the Cancer Genome Atlas (The Cancer Genome Atlas. TCGA) with tumor tissue. The Kenneth D. Aldape and Gregory N. Fuller of Neurology have participated in writing the classic reference book of neuropathology, WHO neural system tumor classification.

Radiotherapy is an important method for the treatment of brain tumors, especially glioblastoma, medulloblastoma, and brain metastases. MD Anderson cancer center neurotumor radiotherapy group can provide conventional radiotherapy, intensity modulated radiotherapy, stereotactic radiotherapy and Gliasite balloon / catheter brachytherapy for patients with brain tumors. In addition, the Anderson cancer center costs $127 million for proton radiotherapy equipment, and only 3 medical units in the United States have such equipment. Proton radiotherapy has high energy, accurate positioning and good protection of normal brain tissue around it. Anderson cancer center also provides proton radiation therapy for patients with brain tumors and skull base tumors.

The center of Neurosurgery attaches importance to multidisciplinary collaboration. In clinical aspect, clinical case discussions are held weekly. They are attended by neuroimaging, peripheral neuropathy, neuropathology, neuropathology and neurotumor radiotherapy physicians, and make the best treatment plan for patients. In the field of basic scientific research, the Department of neurocancer experimental research regularly held academic seminars to inform the laboratories of their scientific research and to communicate with each other. At the same time, the center of neural tumor also often invites the Institute and the experts from the United States to make a speech and develop the research ideas.

Pain center

Pain is one of the most painful symptoms of all diseases. Millions of people are suffering from cancer in the United States alone. However, many people have not said the symptoms of pain, nor do they seek appropriate treatment. The center for pain medicine aims to find the best treatment options for the pain of cancer patients.

The services provided by the pain medical center are composed of two major modules: cancer pain service and postoperative pain service. Cancer pain serves the pain of inpatients and outpatients. Postoperative pain service is used to treat the patient's pain after the operation.
